To see the damage, we need to closer to the issue.
We were challenged by China Environmental Protection Foundation (CEPF) to help raise awareness of China’s rampant destruction of the environment. This is a very sensitive subject in China, due to weak government protection laws that favours the country’s evergrowing industry.
So, we decided to (literally) draw the Chinese public closer to to the problem. From far away the images look like traditional "shanshui" paintings, but a closer look reveals the real damage being done.
The campaign ran across traditional media, but was also displayed at the largest subway stations in China, where millions of people were impacted everyday.
